| Notes for John Spencer |
Agnes father, John agrees to adopt / foster Edwin from 1 month after birth to 13 years old, for 2/- (10p). Edwin is shown as Johns grandson on 1851 & 1861 Census but named as son on 1871 Census.
In 1861 John is Enumerator for Woodhouse area, (Keighley 18).
John Spencer was not trained in book-keeping as is shown in the bills he made out, "your sons cloes making, your second sons cloes making", and so forth - but that makes everything more personal and interesting. His wording was, as he would have said it, not in the context of a book-keeper. Even so he certainly moved around, and obviously looked after his family.
